About The Artist Oscar Vasquez is a member of the prestigious American Watercolor Society in New York. He has received awards in the Society New York shows. He is the artist and author of the book "Sketch of the South." Born: April 5, 1944 Died: September 10, 2021 Interesting Fact He was hired by the art director for the filming of "Sleeping With The Enemy," starring Julia Roberts and Patrick Bergin, in Abbeville, South Carolina, to do three watercolors and five drawings of scenes and sets of the movie. Oscar was chosen as the national juror for the 1978 AWS show by the board of directors, and an honor is given to an artist who has done exceptionally well in exhibits. In the 1977 show, he was given the Silver Civil Medal of Honor. In 1982, he received the Georgia Gold Award. In 1989, he received one of the top awards in the Southern Watercolor Show. Oscar was a member of the Dolphin fellowship and exclusive AWS fellowship. He is listed in the Who's Who in American art.
