Description: Extremely rare guidebook to Krakow Poland, published locally in the city in 1861. Includes several illustrations taken from engravings and printed within the text throughout, and on the front wrapper. The guide, with German text, provides a detailed tour of the city and its culture. At time of publication, Krakow was fully part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Only after 1867 would be become Polish-administered and semi-autonomous as a basic result of the Austria defeat in the Austro-Prussian War. The guide is complete and in good condition throughout. The blue paper wrappers obviously show signs of age, and a small section of the front wrapper has been removed along the upper margin. Format: 20 x 13cm. 64 pages.
