Description: Offered is a good early 19th Century Irish provincial sterling silver teaspoon by William Reynolds, Jr. of Cork, with a scarce mark that is less known than others used in his family. However, the STERg mark used on this spoon exactly matches one used on pieces with other, better known marks used by Reynolds, conclusively showing this mark to be his. Based on style, it certainly should be Reynolds, Jr. rather than his father who made this spoon. This piece measures about 5 1/4 inches or 13.4 cm in length, and weighs about 16 grams. Condition is fairly good with some modest tip wear and bumps to the bowl, and overall modest surface wear; there are no splits or repairs. All in all a nice example of this scarce Cork silversmith's mark! Shipping to U.S. and UK locations only.
