The stems are strong with an interesting white coating, both heat and cold hardy, very thick triangular segments with spines. The fruit is a good size with an average weight of one pound, the taste of the fruit has hints of sweet berries aftertaste with no earthy taste at all. VALDIVIA ROJA: Valdivia Roja dragon fruit variety originates from Jalisco State in Mexico, the stems are thick three sided growth with a grayish white coating that helps them withstand both the heat and cold. The Valdivia Roja fruit is oval in shape and has orangish red skin, it has a wonderful sweetness and an average Brix value of 19. TRICIA: Tricia is a dragon fruit variety developed by Edgar Valdivia and named after his daughter. The plant is a vigorous grower with an attractive white coating on the stem that helps protect the plant from heat and cold. The Tricia fruit is a pound in weight, egg-shaped, and has several tiny fins that give it a distinctive look. With a Brix value of 19, the red-fleshed fruit offers a pleasant sweetness and neither acidity nor aftertaste. PRIDE OF FALLBROOK (POF): POF dragon fruit is a variety cultivated in Fallbrook in northern San Diego, we acquired the POF cutting from a grower in San Diego who got it directly from Danny Loftus who used to work at Elk Creek Farm. POF has some white coating on the branch which can tolerate both heat and cold. The POF fruit weigh about 1 pound, purple flesh inside and very sweet, the brix score is at least 18 and up, and has a grape flavor with firm texture. OREJONA: Orejona is a Nicaraguan dragon fruit variety that is round with small fins and dark red flesh. The fruit is tasty with an average Brix score of 18. The gray coating on the stem help protects the plant from the heat in the summertime and cold in the wintertime. This variety tends to tolerate the heat very well. GARGANTUAN: As suggested by its name, the Gargantuan variety is known as the enormous dragon fruit. It is a fruit that is truly deserving of its name, with fruits that can weigh over 2 pounds and branches and thorns that protrude out. Gargantuan dragon fruit is shaped like a ball and has small, short bracts that give the impression that make it appear to be a dragon ball. The fruit delivers sweet, juicy, and deliciously flavorful red inside flesh. DR. CEDENO: Dr. Cedeño dragon fruit is a new hybrid variety, red flesh and excellent taste, created by Dr. Cedeño from Puerto Rico. The fruit is a medium to large fruit, delicious with both flavor and sweetness. Brix of at least 18 and will be higher as the vines mature, also beautiful looking fruit from the outside. The gray coating is present on the stem to protect the plant from the heat of the summer and the cold of the winter. EL GRULLO: El Grullo dragon fruit variety originates from El Grullo, Jalisco State Mexico, the plant can tolerate both heat and cold very well. The weight of the fruit is 1 to 1.5 pounds, oval shape with red skin and deep red flesh, excellent taste, and very sweet with a Brix rating of 19. Stems are thick, heavy, three-sided with large-sized thorns. The gray-white coating allows the plant to tolerate heat and cold much better than other dragon fruit.
