Description: Post WW2 French army rucksack/backpack/haversack based on the US army musette pack. The French version is slightly scaled up, and designed to be carried on its own shoulder straps as opposed to being clipped to the webbing yoke. It is probably around 15 litres in volume, made of khaki linen canvas with steel fittings. It features a flat retaining strap on one side, and the double-pocket internal divider like the US one, but has no external pockets at all. The closing straps are attached to the flap, and thread onto one of two pairs of steel friction adjusters, with the top pair allowing the pack to be substantially over-filled. The shoulder straps have been created by threading a 2” webbing strap through a loop which sits at the top between your shoulders, and has metal adjusters for changing the length at both ends. The shoulder strap is removable. The metalwork is corroded and the fabric has fading, stains and small holes, and one stitched repair, but the pack is clean, complete and fully functional. Rare item, excellent for bush wars or Indochina/Vietnam war collectors and reenactment. Please examine the photographs. No returns please, I’m selling my collection to make space. Has been hand washed with unscented detergent. From a smoke and pet free home. Will aim to dispatch within three working days via Royal Mail for the U.K., or GSP only for international buyers. Please feel free to message with any questions !
