It usually grows fairly high on tree trunks and branches and sometimes, though rarely, on rocks. Its simple fronds, closely spaced on the rhizome, are thin but fleshy, and bright green. They taper at both ends and are widest in the middle. The numerous sori are scattered over the lower side of the frond. Microsorum australiense is easy to grow in a humid, protected situation. In these conditions it can be planted in the garden and allowed to climb up trees. It makes a very attractive basket specimen.This spore does not require any special treatment. Just treat like any other spore. It is a good idea to open the packet slowly (out of any breeze, or you could loose the lot) and while holding the edges of the packet upwards gently tap the paper on the outside with a pencil to shake the spore back into the centre fold.
