Description: A wonderful example of Elkington & Co’s expanding toast rack. The hallmark has the ‘M’ for Mason which was used until 1861 but the ‘X’ suggests to me that it is 1881. If anyone has any more information, I’d be very interested to know. It works very smoothly and is complete, apart from the base of one ball (bottom right in picture 10). There is some tarnishing and age related scratches, please see the photos for cosmetic condition. Width 10cm, length closed 6cm, fully extended 53cm.
