Description: Okay, this vase has caused months of digging to find out its origins. I suspect that it was made by Christian Schollerts grandfather, Christian Johansen Schollert( who died in 1834), in Sóllerod which is a suburb of Copenhagen sometime in the early 1800's. He was the founder of the Schollert Keramik dynasty. It was before the Schollert pieces were made using a lightish red clay and signed with only the Schollert name with the "t" at a slant. It's 17.5cm tall and 15cm in diameter. It weighs 880 grams unpackaged. The grey clay base was covered with a dark brown glaze then inscribed, "Schollert Sóllerod". That this vase has survived in such good condition is a wonder if nothing else. It has No chips, No cracks, No large scratches and No repairs. The matte blue glaze is in fine condition. There is only very slight wear from normal usage. If you collect Schollert ceramics then this vase is a no-brainer. Or if you are interested in early Danish pottery for that matter.
