Description: Here offered is a really rare example featuring coatings and small crystals of cuprotungstite from a very obscure locality. Most people only are aware of the largest mine within the Hamme Tungsten District, the Hamme (Tungsten Queen) mine on the North Carolina side of the district. There are several other prospects on both sides and here is one from the district on the Virginia side. The specimen has some very lovely lime green coatings and tiny crystals scattered over the specimen. Within the quartz is some pyrite with accessory bornite and covellite. There are a few layers with cuprotungstite poking out as well that could be carefully split open if so desired. There is also a yellow mineral (last photo) that is either Tungstite or Bismutite but hard to know for sure without analysis since both minerals were found within the district.Very rare piece! 8x8x4 cm
