Description: Rare copy of Creative Time Inc.'s documentary publication on Anemones, a kinetic art installation by German artist Otto Piene (1928 - 2014) held at 88 Pine Street, New York City from October 19 - December 31, 1976. According to the publication text the "glass-enclosed space at 88 Pine Street suggested a fish tank" to the artist. Piene at the time was Director of the Center For Advanced Visual Studies at MIT. The publication photographs show the transformed space populated by an environment of fanciful soft-sculptural anemones and other sea creatures created by Piene and the team of artists and students he assembled to help. Three of the 4-pages of the 11 x 8-1/2 inches folded publication are shown. Otto Piene's marvelous drawings of anemones are among the illustrations.I acquired this item along with several others in the series of documentary publications on 1970s projects done by and published by Creative Time in 1979 in conjunction with research for a review I published on Creative Time's sculpture exhibition called "Art on the Beach" in the October 1980 issue of Artforum magazine. This item has been a part of my contemporary art archives since its acquisition. Please contact me with any questions. Please note this item is sold with no return.
