Description: Rare antique white opalescent straight-sided cylindrical spooner or jar made by AJ Beatty & Sons Glass Co. in its famous pattern known as "Beatty Rib," circa 1889. This striking vertical rib pattern came in white and blue opalescent and in several different shapes and pieces. This piece measures about 4 1/4" " tall and 3 1/4" in diameter. It is slightly taller than the similar pieces that I have listed separately as #2 and #3. They are all the right size for a spooner but they could also have been jars of some kind (although tihis does have a polished rim, so that is unlikely). I am not sure why the difference in height between these 3 pieces, but this is in excellent condition with no apparent flaws and is a rare piece either way! I had the pleasure of purchasing an outstanding collection of Beatty Rib at a recent estate auction, including some very rare pieces, so please check my other listings if you collect this gorgeous old pattern, and always feel free to ask any questions!
