Description: Rare Antique Porcelain Vase made in Germany by Rudolstadt Strauss & Sohne circa 1895. The vase is urn shaped and measures 7 1/2" tall and 5 1/2" wide. It is hand painted with a tan and amber colored background and gold accents throughout. A beautiful bouquet of red and lavender poppies is painted on one side. The other side has a single poppy and bud. The vase has 2 handles that come to a point at the top. They are white that blends into tan at the bottom with gold gilt accents. The bottoms of the handles have roaring dragon heads with gold horns. The vase has a round amber colored pedestal base with a raised relief pattern of Acanthus leaves and "Green Man" faces in 4 places around the perimeter, also accented in gold. The base is attached with a bolt in the bottom and sealed off inside. The mouth of the vase measures 2" in diameter and the base is 4". The outside has a semi-matte glaze and the inside is white and glazed. There is a faint blue company hallmark stamped on the bottom. The vase is in excellent condition with no damage and very minor paint wear.
