Description: RARE ANTIQUE MINTY 3 COLOR PITIADO EMBROIDERED KIDS HOLSTER&CARTRIDGE BELT c1920 RARE ANTIQUE MINTY 3 COLOR PITIADO EMBROIDERED KIDS HOLSTER&CARTRIDGE BELT c1920 ANTIQUE MATCHING EARLY SMALL REVOLVER MATCHING GUN RIG DOUBLE LOOP HOLSTER & CARTRIDGE BELT HAND TOOLED & EMBROIDERED This small matching holster rig appears to fit a small sized .32 revolver, as the cartridge loops are larger than a .22 caliber and smaller than a .38 caliber. The overall size appears to be for a small man or lady; however, it could also fit a kid who may have been old enough to own his first pistola. It is well known that well to do Charros would outfit their sons in Vaquero regalia, just like their padre. This is a fancy, antique hand embroidered pitiado (cactus fiber) matching small revolver gun rig in a dark brown leather color. The fancy cartridge belt with early style eyelets & scalloped bottom border are typical patterns popular during the Mexican Revolution period. The matching small revolver double loop holster is tooled with embroidered border & accent decorations. The pitiado embroidery is done with hand twisted fibers from the Agave cactus leaves; the same cactus used to make Tequila. The intricately hand embroidered decoration is done one stitch at a time, i.e., each time the needle is brought up from the back of the leather, each stitch of the fine embroidery creates the 3-dimensional embroidered design. This painstaking process is now a long-lost art. Any pitiado embroidered leather items are scarce, and only for visual appeal. This rig has simple but eye appealing pitiado decoration. Many holsters do not have a skirt or holster loops; this one has a double loop configuration with pitiado decoration, with the loop ends secured to the back side of the holster with 4 rivets. The inside holster and back side skirt are suede leather lined. The front holster panel is hand tooled in a leaf and vine pattern, with a pitiado border and outside tooled border. The holster skirt is about 8 1/2" tall x 4 3/4" wide, and the matching cartridge belt is made for .32 caliber cartridges. I don't know which revolvers would fit in this holster; undoubtedly there are several that would fit. Almost all these old holster rigs are for display only; however, if you want to display a gun in it, the measurement from the inside holster bottom to the top back edge is about 7 5/8". The inside measurement of the holster, from the top right inside across the holster towards to the left edge is about 3 3/8". This closed toe style leather holster never had a hammer strap, and is unmarked, as are all Mexican rigs. The cartridge belt is about 39" long x 1 7/8" wide, with a dark tan suede leather lining, stitched at the top and bottom borders. The belt appears to fit about a 32" waist to about a 37", with 7 belt holes. The bottom edge is scalloped with punch dot decorations. The cartridge loops fit a .32 caliber round, and are in good order, with one loop having a tiny loss at the top. The cartridge loops with early style eyelets & scalloped bottom border are typical patterns that were popular during the Mexican Revolution period. Note that the cartridge loops have a gap between them to fit this particular holster. The early style buckle appears to be nickel plated brass; secured by a leather tab with a double row of hand sewn stitching. This is a matching gun rig; the holster and cartridge belt with a dark brown color match. All the stitching and embroidery is intact on the rig, with one small dark stain below the cartridge loops, light sweat staining to the inside belt lining, and surface dirt. Almost all leather items from South of the Border show heavy usage, and it is nearly impossible to find antique leather in good condition. Mexican leather had a horrible tanning process that did not preserve the leather very well, and would self-destruct in almost no time, which is one reason why all old Mexican leather items in good condition are so scarce. Items were also handed down from generation to generation, and typically saw continuous use until they literally fell apart; then typically were hand patched and continued being used. This holster rig leather is supple, with normal wear, with aged patina; and overall, in untouched, as found condition The rig would benefit from some leather dressing and use newspaper inside the holster to regain its shape after being stored flat. This small gun rig dates to around the Mexican Revolutionary period; about 1915 - 20’s and weighs only 7.8 ounces. This gun rig is from South of the Border, down Mexico way; in good condition considering its age. This would be perfect for any Western, Old West, Western Americana, Wild West, Parade, Re-enactment, Charro, Charrita, Vaquero, Cowboy, Cowgirl, Buckaroo, Kid's, Holster, Cartridge belt, Holster rig collection, or use as a decorator, wall hanger, hang on a saddle horn, costume or conversation piece. If you wish to take advantage of any of the issue resolution options available from the seller, you must have the business courtesy to discuss any potential issue within 3 days of receipt, and gain agreement with the seller prior to requesting a return through eBay, leaving feedback or initiating any online dispute process. By doing so, buyers commit to negotiate in good faith, and that they have not initiated any other form of resolution processing; including eBay / PayPal dispute process or credit card charge backs, or purchases where you have been or may be compensated by a third party. Possible buyer / seller resolution examples are: if seller and buyer agree that an item is significantly different than described and photographed, exchanging an item for a different item from the seller (whether listed or unlisted), credit from the seller against any current or future item, adjustment, trade, return, or any other arrangement that is mutually agreed upon between the seller and the buyer, and confirmed in writing via eBay's email system. These options are designed to expedite resolution of any potential issue quickly, easily and amicably, in lieu of eBay / PayPal on-line dispute resolution process which is lengthy, laborious, and allows decisions to be made by a 3rd party instead of the principals; i.e., the buyer & seller.
