Description: Rare Antique DOUBLE PRESENTATION, Double Identified 1857 Leather Civil War Period Pocket Bible DESCRIPTION: Scans show it all. Measures 5 3/8" x 3 5/8". Nice imprinted design in the cover. Nice pocket size leather covered bible with gold edged pages and a nice fancy hinged metal clasp to keep it closed. This is a fancy version of the type often carried by Civil War soldiers. Printed in London as many were, dated 1857. Particularly nice DOUBLE PRESENTATION, identified in ink on the front page in nice, large period hand written ink script as follows: "PRESENTED TO WILLIAM C. FLETCHER BY CALEB J. COREY......also, PRESENTED TO M.A.D. by W.C.F., APRIL 7, 1867". Nice patina overall. May or may not have been given to, used by, or related to a soldier, but still a typical type for a collection or display and still interesting reading, reference, and collectable even if civilian/homefront related.
