Slight fading towards board edges. Bumping and wear to board corners with tiny surface paper losses. A little wear and scuffing to board edges. Tiny chips to front pastedown edges. Spine rebacked with cloth. Front board slightly bowed. Covers and pastedown plate have general rubbing, scratches, indentations and scuffing. Pages of a pale cream coloured, thickish paper, which are overall clean and in very good order for age. Pale age discolourtion to margins and gutters, being darker to text block edges. Pale foxing and age marks to most pages, endpapers, plate reverses, plate margins and text block edges. Occasional handling mark. A few light handling creases. Vertical fold to one illustration, a very short tear and some creasing and wear to margin of one other plate. Small corner loss to half title. Small surface paper losses and scuffing to rear endpapers. Bumping and wear to text block corners with wear to text block edges. All plates present (this book was published with 15 plates) which are clean, bright, vibrant and in very good condition for age, and are printed on white, smooth "art quality" paper. No inscriptions, ownership details, writing, colouring or scribble. Binding sound except cracking to endpaper gutters and slight slackening of board hinges. Book is complete with no loose, detached or missing pages. 12 x 16.5 cm - 54 Pages Variation of paper tone in the photographs is due to changing light conditions and camera angles as the pages are of a uniform colour. Overall, still in clean and very good condition for an antiquarian children's book 94 years old. This is a truly lovely, beautifully illustrated children's book. Filled with charming illustrations and gorgeous colour plates, featuring a variety of animal characters, all executed in Rountree's well known wonderful and adorable anthropomorphic style at its best.
