RARE 1870 Christopher Columbus Reception by King Ferdinand Print, Henry Schile

Description: I have for sale a rare and large antique Christopher Columbus print. The print comes in a large Victorian walnut frame. The print is signed but it is difficult to make out but from what I can tell it is by H. Schile, New York. You can see this in the (6th) & (7th) photos above. I tried to track it down but I couldn't find this particular print anywhere online. I found in the Library of Congress where it puts this prints date at 1870. I found a Schile Pocahontas & Daniel Boone lithographs but no Columbus. Henry Schile was in direct competition with Currier & Ives in the 1870's and produced different examples of these large folio lithograph prints. Overall it is in good condition. There is a vertical 2" strip missing at the top at the center, and a chip on the top-right corner, and some minor chipping on the far-right edge. Also, if you look at the photos at the bottom of the glass where it goes into the frame you can see a cloudiness. This is because the glass is dirty underneath at the little strip at the bottom. This is a simple fix. Finally, if you look at the back of the frame you can see some water marks at the bottom of the boards. However, I could not find any water soiling to the print. This rare antique Columbus print comes in a wonderful larger Victorian walnut frame with an inner gilt strip. There's a couple minor bubbles in the glass and a couple minor chips on the edge of the frame, but it is all extremely minor. The entire piece weighs approximately 9 lbs. Made by H.
