RARE 1820's PALAIS ROYAL SEWING BOX MOTHER OF PEARL Scissors Needle case etc

Description: All my items are sold with a Certificate of Authenticity. "RARE PALAIS ROYAL SEWING BOX WITH ORIGINAL MOTHER OF PEARL TOOLS.This is a fine c.1820 - 1830 French Palais Royal sewing box, with the original sewing tools still inside. This box is very uncommun because there is also inside a pink little book with the French Royal Coat of Arms:"Book of Hours" dedicated to Mademoiselle. "Mademoiselle" is Louise Marie Thérèse d'Artois, granddaughter of King Charles X. Louise Marie Thérèse d'Artois ( 21 September 1819 – 1 February 1864) was a duchess and later a regent of Parma. She was the eldest daughter of Charles Ferdinand, Duke of Berry, younger son of King Charles X of France and Carolina of Naples and Sicily, daughter of King Francis I of the Two Sicilies. She served as regent of Parma during the minority of her son from 1854 until 1859. In the Book of Hours, there is also the King Louis XVI testament and the last letter of Marie-Antoinette.Marie Antoinette wrote this letter to the Conciergerie on October 16, 1793, in the early morning, a few hours before being guillotined. She wrote to the sister of King Louis XVI, "Madame Elisabeth": "It is to you, my sister, that I write for the last time. I have just been sentenced ...".This letter has never been delivered to the recipient. It has been kept by the public prosecutor, found only in 1816 and published the same year in memory of a great queen. Back again to the description of the items for sale:This lovely box is in the shape on fashion during the 1820's - 1830's but the monogram, in Gothic style, is typical from the 1850's.I guess this box has been offered to some nice people at that time. Inside the box there are still the original superb Palais Royal mother of pearl sewing tools:One thread winder ( the other one is missing). A needle case inlaid with a gold enameled pansy (9,3 x 2 cm or 3" 5/8 x 3/4") A bodkin (early needle). A cut crystal and silver perfume holder (the internal stopper is still present) 7,5 x 2 cm or 2"7/8 x 3/4". A pair of scissors engraved with pansies (9,5 x 4 cm or 3.75 x 1.5 inches). A thimble (the gold enameled pansy is missing) diameter about 1.4 cm or about 0.5 inch. There is still the original silk pillow which sits on top of the tray.A mirror in the lid of the box.The book of hours: 11,8 x 8 cm or 4.5 x 3 inches, thickness: 2 cm or 0.75 inch. The box measures: 24,3 x 17 cm height: 14 cm or 9.5 x 6.75 inches height: 5.5 inches. Condition is rather good for the age. Please note a few missings of inlaid wood on the box and a few little cracks on its lid. There are some little damages on the tools shown on pictures. The pair of scissors, the needle case and the perfume holder are in good condition. The thimble is fine but there is a natural hairline to the MOP and the gold enameled pansy is missing. The book of hours is also in pretty good condition, only a few spots of rust inside attesting the age. I have added the maximum number of pictures on eBay.But I made much more pictures and I will be glad to send you some of them, please feel free to ask. This is a very rare historical item !A museum piece ! Guarantee: I sell only original antiques, no reproductions ! All my objects are sold with a Certificate of Authenticity. All my parcels are tracked and fully insured.
