Each cat’s eye is decorated with white, black and brown glaze on a blue glaze background. This pepper pot was molded in 2 pieces, the body and top which were joined when the clay was still wet prior to firing. Measuring 4 ¼” in height to the top of the pepper pot, this survives in original mint condition with no damage or repairs, having been cherished and cared for 200+ years by collectors who value the importance of this great piece of mocha pottery. The match to this wonderful pepper pot is shown on page 70 in Jonathan Rickard’s definitive book “MOCHA and related dipped wares, 1770-1939”.
