RAINBOW ROCK GOLD QUARTZ SPECIMEN .6 GRAMS MOTHER LODE GOLD IN QUARTZ

Description: NATIVE GOLD QUARTZ SPECIMEN from the MOTHER LODE Ruler is 1/4" wide (6 mm). U.S. 10 cent coin is 17 mm in diameter. Specimen weight: 9.4 Grains (Troy) - .6 Gram Size: 10.5X8.8X5.9 mm Here's a slug of rainbow quartz with a nice show of gold packed inside. Rock hails from the Sierra Nevada Mtns. There's lots of colors livening it up. Iron and gold have an affinity. They agree with one another and frequently occur together. Once water oxidizes iron and chemistry takes over, residual colors of rust result. The gold here is captured inside a mixed brown and amber quartz silicate. You're not getting your money's worth in gold, but I guarantee an altogether natural specimen of gold and quartz. Source is California, U.S.A. Here, you see embryonic gold growing within it's mother rock aka silicon dioxide (quartz). Residual iron coloration livens this one up. All my specimens show visible gold and are authentic gold nuggets or gold quartz specimens. U.S. SHIPPING $4.00 (includes USPS tracking to all U.S. destinations) INTERNATIONAL CUSTOMERS S&H $16.00 FAST REFUND OFFERED (If, for any reason, you're not happy with this item). I poured through old mining dumps for years looking at orange-yellow-rusty rock through a loupe, but I never found a piece with visible gold. Hydrothermal solutions carrying gold and silica crystallized into veins of gold quartz. This specimen comes from one of the many vein systems sourcing the immense placer deposits of the Sierra Nevada Mtns, the famed Mother Lode. Throwing some gear together, we began recon in some new country. Our destination was the Dome Rock Mtns. near Quartzsite, Arizona. In adjacent mining districts, coarse gold had been recovered from canyon systems to the east, west, and south. The major, uplifted rock formations where we were staking claims were mainly schist, quartzsite, granite, and rhyolite. Contact alteration zones were everywhere. The alluvial outflow from ravines draining the region historically had produced a considerable amount of placer. Farrar Gulch lay a scant half mile to the west. It shelled out the largest nuggets ever found in the region. To the east lay the rich Middle Camp and Mariquita districts. South of I10 were the hard-hit Oro Fino and La Cholla districts. Countless nuggets had been recovered from these goldfields. The low-lying mountains surrounding us looked identical to rocks in the adjoining districts. We were literally surrounded with gold. Quartz outcroppings adorned the hillsides like painted-white grafitti shouting "Gold! Come and get me!" Oxidized quartz boulders lay strewn everywhere. Large magnetite nodules blackened the hillsides. This iron mineral was heavily concentrated in local washes and arroyos. Earlier research turned up no valid, active claims in these environs. I thought, "man, how lucky can a guy get?" Packing my dry-washer in, we made several test runs in several likely-looking zones; drop spots where placer gold was hiding. As we began sampling, black sand spilled off the end of the drywasher tray. Our anticipation was thick enough to chew. Finishing the runs, concentrates were poured into a gold pan. We had packed just enough aqua in to drink and for checking a few samples. I'm recalling the excursion forty years further up the road, so I'm guessing Larry and I looked at one another in quiet resignation, shook our heads, and began packing up our gear. The sad truth is, not one solitary pin-prick of gold had snuck it's way into the tray; nothing but piles of fine-grained magnetite, aka black sand. We figured the horse was lifeless, so what was the sense in kicking him? Doesn't it hold true that failures teach the most valuable lessons? There's only one thing which demonstrates beyond reasonable doubt a claim holds gold and that's 'yeller', not black sand, gleaming in your pan. When someone tells you, "gold is found where there’s lots of black sand", take it with a grain of salt and don't quit testing until you've found the Real Mccoy. LAW OF THE YUKON "From my ruthless throne, I have ruled alone for a million years and a day; Hugging my mighty treasure, waiting for man to come; Till he swept like a turbid torrent, and after him swept - the scum". Words of Robert Service Thanks for checking out our digs. Gold of Eldorado 8-13-17
