Description: Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE Listed American studio potter Ragnar Naess was born in 1942 in Morristown NJ. Naess attended Putney School in Stanford U., and then trained with Marguerite Wildenhain at Pond Farm Pottery. Naess currently has his work on view (a lovely teapot) at the Renwick Gallery of the Smithsonian American Art Museum in Washington DC as well as many other major institutions around the world. This vessel is elegant and beautifully executed in a brilliant cobalt blue glaze with Naess’ signature Art Deco “Tile Set” relief work around the midsection. Vase measures approximately 6” high by 3 ½ inches wide. A real beauty. Signed with Naess’ usual “RN” mark on the bottom. This Ragnar Naess art deco vase comes from a studio pottery collection that includes Howard Kottler, Frans Wildenhain, Laura Andreson, Betty Feves and many others, all items I have collected in my travels over the years. Recent health issues have compelled me to find new homes for much of this art that has given me so much joy. Some of the most important pieces will be left to AMOCA and other institutions but many others will be listed here in the near future along with other items I am passing along. I am trying to keep prices extremely reasonable in hopes of this work going to people who will cherish and appreciate it and as such will consider reasonable offers. Thank you.
