BUY FIVE OR MORE ITEMS FROM MY STORE AT ONE TIME AND EBAY WILL IMMEDIATELY DISCOUNT YOUR PURCHASE BY 20% AT CHECKOUT. IT IS THE LEAST I CAN DO FOR FELLOW COLLECTORS WHO ENJOY A GREAT DEAL AS MUCH AS I DO. SO HERE IS THE BIG QUESTION: WHAT IS A RADIO SHOW? WHY COLLECT THEM? WHERE DO THEY COME FROM? Well, those are good questions, especially if you have never known of them. Radio Shows are unique products aired by radio stations that can be local productions or syndicated productions by one of several large and small distributors who supply broadcast product to radio stations normally during weekends when the usual air personalities are not on the air, such as on weekends where most air on Saturday or Sunday evenings or during overnight segments. They often feature some of the best known voices for their genre from across the country thus the Dick Clark's and Casey Kasem's and Rick Dees and Dick Bartley and so many others. People collect radio shows for various reasons. Some just collect the series because they like it and want them all. Some collect their favorite artists or genre of music. Rather than an album by the artist or a compilation bought at Wal Mart or downloaded through iTunes or wherever, they have a unique presentation of their favorite artist or music not available anywhere else and always with dj presentations which were very entertaining. Some collect interviews with their favorite artists as many shows had interview segments. Some collect commercials. AND, these shows are in limited quantity. They were pressed just for syndicated stations in the United States. Many have just a few still in circulation. Some of the more popular shows may have as many as a hundred or two hundred of each week's show that survived but think about it. A hundred for some 200 million Americans and millions of overseas collectors who look for unique presentations of their favorite artists or form of music is about as rare as rare can be. AND they are increasingly hard to find. They were first distributed on reel to reel tape if the show goes back that far into the 60's, then later on lp, later on CD and even later (after 2000 for most shows) on CDR. Now they are not available at all to collectors since they are distributed by digital download much like you get your music from iTunes. However, some locally produced shows are available to collectors especially if they have a format that is unique and unusual. These shows become rarer and rarer every day because the people who buy them hold on to them and the people who sell them, like me, are running out of them. My best contact for radio shows, the general manager of a medium power FM station who has been saving these shows for years and is now selling them to fund needed upgrades to his FM facility, is running very low and when he is gone I will be at the mercy of finding a good deal here and there but never from a regular source. The shows that you get now and hold on to will never decrease in value and only increase. I sell them for near what I bought them for. I give volume discounts and discount postage always. As the postal service increases their rates, my shipping rates over the years has decreased. And, I have one of the biggest radio show libraries in the world consisting of over ten thousand shows, so many that I don't even know all that I have and am sometimes amazed when I go to look for one show and find another that I did not realize I had. Finally, it is Americana at its best. Whether the show be from the 60's or 2000's, rock, countdown, oldies, country, classical, religious, jazz or big band, it is unique and home grown. And you just can't find them anywhere. Even record stores that still exist will rarely have any. Radio shows are wonderful representations of the real golden age of radio at least music wise. Just listen to stations today that are all homogenized and where the dj is broadcasting from some other part of the country and you will quickly realize that radio is not radio anymore. It is a corporate highjacking of the fun we used to enjoy on our favorite stations. Every one of these radio shows you buy is an original, not a copy, not a remake - all are limited editions with perhaps a hundred still out there at most and most much less. Once you get hooked, like me, it is a love affair for life! Welcome to the Club! OK guys and gals, in this outing, A RARE TREAT!!!! I am beginning to list one of locally produced oldies compilation shows which I am offering for the first time. In fact, it is the only radio show in the country in which I advertise Keith's Kollectables because of its unique format and world wide availability through the internet. If you listen to my790 WLBE am radio in Leesburg, Florida you will hear live every night THE NIGHT TRAIN WITH MIKE IN THE NIGHT , ONE OF the definitive oldies series of all time is listened to throughout the United States live every weeknight and across the world on the internet. MIKE IN THE NIGHT is broadcast live on radio station WLBE in Leesburg/Tavares/The Villages, Florida. It is a 5000 watt AM station with informational/local programming in the mornings and oldies from the 50's - early 70's in the afternoon, evenings, and overnights You can listen to WLBE live locally in Central Florida on 790 am with a signal radius of about 100 miles all directional or on my790am.com throughout the world or on the Tune In app for smart phones. Please note that while Mike is still with the station, it now has a country oldies format so these unique shows featuring the rare and unique of the early rock era will no longer be available once all his shows are listed. There are several that will be listed soon so please watch for them. THE NIGHT TRAIN WITH MIKE IN THE NIGHT airs nightly from 7 pm - 11 pm although like Howard Stern in his broadcast days on terrestrial radio, the show NEVER ends when scheduled at 11pm. Mike goes anywhere from 11:15 -12 pm or until, as he promises, 'the last request is played.' What makes this show unique is that it is true oldies and not just what you hear on oldies radio playing the top 40 songs of the year. Mike plays not only from the top 100 not of every year of the early rock era but from the top 150 of every month using Billboard Magazine, Cash Box Magazine and Record World Magazine listings especially for those songs that peaked under the Top 100 but were valid regional hits in the country! Most music is from approximately 1955 through 1972 although doo wop and R&B oldies can go all the way back to the real roots of rock in the late 1940's and early 50's. Every night has a unique theme such as Twin Spin Tuesday, Wacky Wednesday Instrumental Thursday and the Friday Night Sock Hop during which the theme is spotlighted but not at the expense of listener requests which make up the bulk of the show along with various themes and specials. Mondays are saved for special themes like one hit wonders, producer/songwriter tributes , summer songs, car songs and others although artist birthdays as well as singer/songwriter birthdays are celebrated every night. If a famous artist passes away on the day of the show, he/she is spotlighted during the show as well. Songs selected in all artist/singer songwriter/producer themes include their best known work but also unique presentations that are not often presented such as the artists early work before they became stars and some material from later years after they faded from the public spotlight but still were turning out great music. There are also regular features every night such as ELVIS AT 8 where four songs covering all aspects of the King of Rock and Roll's career are featured including movie music, live performances, and gospel. At 8:30 every night MIKE IN THE NIGHT presents a special DOO WOP feature presented by The Doo Wop Music Discovery Club, a large local doo wop club who researches the history of doo wop music and presents two songs every night tied together by a special theme and including many rare and largely unknown but wonderful pieces of music. Many shows include an episode from that featured fighter and caped crusader Chickenman who, if you listened to radio in the 60's, you knew and loved just as I did and do! MIKE IN THE NIGHT is listener driven and much of every night's music comes from listener requests. Listeners are often put on the air live to present their own request. AND after that last request is played, music from the station playlist of over 90 hours of oldies from the 50's, 50's and 70's continues uninterrupted all night giving the listener continuous music from the early days of rock, a special feature reminiscent of Dick Bartley's American Gold show which offered four songs in the clear at the end of each show for syndicating stations to add to their music library. You get an extra number of great songs following the end of each show until the next hour. THE NIGHT TRAIN SHOW WITH MIKE IN THE NIGHT is the actual aired show of every night with five hours of great oldies. The 7 pm - 9 pm hours each contain two or three minutes of local commercials each hour. There are no commercials during the 9 - 12 pm hours except for the top of the hour break which is usually not included in the CD's you will receive. Duplication of the show for the public has been done through Video Doc Productions, Inc., a professional music duplication company with many awards for its quality of duplication services. The show comes on 4, 5 or 6 CD's never before played, along with its cue sheets. Each hour contains between 18-20 songs giving you up to 100 unique songs during the four to six hour show. The songs cover rock and roll, rhythm and blues, pop, doo wop, and all the special features. And remember, you will hear the hits that you remember PLUS many many songs from the top 150, not of the year but of any given month in the early rock era. Many of these are songs that you have probably forgotten but when you hear them you will immediately say to yourself, "Hey, I remember that song - I haven't heard it since the time when ...!" Believe me, you will say this and smile at the music that you haven't heard in so many years. It is the best oldies show on the air and that's why I advertise on it every night. Now, for the first time, through a distribution agreement with WLBE and the use of the professional duplication services, these great shows can be available to the general public (us!) Keith's Kollectables has the world wide exclusive selling rights for this show. You will not be able to get it from anywhere else. These shows were recorded nightly on WLBE's archive computer directly from the sound board so they are pristine. They include all the errors that can occur in live radio since they are not edited. On some shows, Mike's voice at times is sometimes somewhat chopped however the music is always pristine and clear, in stereo if the song was cue in stereo. The voice problem is because while the sound board transfer to the transmitter is engineered by the equipment, what goes to the stream is not. Mike in the Night is a music lover from his growing up days near Boston. He cut his musical teeth listening to local celebrities Arnie (Woo Woo) Ginsburg on WBOS and WMEX in Boston, Norm Prescott on WBZ in Boston, Dick Summer on WBZ in Boston and later on WNBC in New York, Allen Freed in New York City and many others. He plays not only the music but tells the stories behind the music in a way that will captivate and entertain you. His own dj experience came from his years in the US Navy as a dj on various ships as well as working in an AFRTS studio in Subic Bay, The Phillipines. You won't hear the polished pro from Mike but what you will hear is a love and respect for the music and the relationship with the listeners from all over the world. It is true Americana and you will never see them again.
