When first broadcast it was a three hour weekly show with a featured artist running through the three hours along with other contemporary country greats and great unique interviews. After the first few years, it morphed into a daily ONE hour ONE LP show, five shows for weekThey come in immaculate condition looking like they were never played before and in fact it was probably played the day it aired and that's it. The shows come with their cue sheets which are in excellent condition. Now, as to the show itself. It is the companion series to Solid Gold Scrapbook, an oldies series also on the United Stations Radio Network. Both shows originated on the old RKO Radio Networks and upon its demise, much of the quality programming was absorbed into the fledgling United Stations Radio Network one of whose owners was Dick Clark. Each show features the best country music ever compiled in its original three hour themed presentation or in its five day a week form. Once it evolved, the concept of a different theme for each show being totally unique, it became more and more popular over the years. Later, both Solid Gold Scrapbook and Solid Gold Country evolved into CD's along with the rest of the industry. However, the rock companion show, Solid Gold Scrapbook ended production in December, 1991 while Solid Gold Country lasted another two years, ending in September, 1993. During the late spring months of 1991, up until the end of June, the shows were offered to stations both in lp and CD and then made a full transition to CD. The CD shows are also extremely rare because by the time the shows made their shift to CD, the number of syndicating stations having shrunk through a variety of reasons including the shift in syndication toward countdown shows. The LP shows are also very rare especially the oldest ones like this. You will probably only find these shows at Keith's Kollectables. The LP show comes on is beautifully decorated as you can see in the listing. It features CLASSIC CONTEMPORARY OLDIES from the top country artists of all time in an entertaining and fascinating format While most country shows were content to focus on the top tunes of the week which was fun, this show focused on the entire genre of country music from the songwriters, producers, artists, and hits of a particular week. This show was broadcast on February 4, 1987, AND CONTAINS RARE EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEWS AND 13 GREAT TUNES FROM ONE WEEK IN MUSIC, THE HISTORY OF YOUR LIFE AND THE HISTORY OF THE WORLD, FEBRUARY, 1981 IT IS AN AMAZING SHOW AND NEEDS TO BE IN YOUR COLLECTION. IMAGINE, AN HOUR OF THE BEST MUSIC, INTERVIEWS AND FEATURES. YOU WILL NEVER HEAR ANOTHER SHOW LIKE IT, THE CONTENTS OF THIS AMAZING SHOW CAN BE SEEN IN THE LISTING PICTURES Remember, this is the original show sent for airing. It is NOT an unauthorized copy but the Real McCoy!!! I personally guarantee that every radio show that I sell is the original show sent to stations. ;SO HERE ARE THE BIG QUESTIONS IF YOU DON'T KNOW MUCH ABOUT RADIO SHOWS: WHAT IS A RADIO SHOW? WHY COLLECT THEM? WHERE DO THEY COME FROM? Well, those are good questions, especially if you have never known of them. Radio Shows are syndicated productions by one of several large and small distributors who supply broadcast product to radio stations normally during weekends when the usual air personalities have a break. Many air on Saturday or Sunday mornings, afternoons or evenings or less often during overnight segments. They often feature some of the best known voices for their genre from across the country thus the Dick Clark's and Casey Kasem's and Rick Dees and Dick Bartley and so many others. People collect them for various reasons. Some just collect the series because they like it and want them all. Some collect their favorite artists or genre of music. Rather than an album by the artist or a compilation downloaded through iTunes or wherever, they have a unique presentation of their favorite artist or music not available anywhere else and always with dj presentations which were very entertaining. Some collect interviews with their favorite artists as most shows had interview segments. Some collect commercials especially old car commercials but certainly not limited to only those. AND, these shows are in limited quantity. They were pressed just for affiliate stations in the United States. Many have just a few still in circulation. Some of the more popular shows may have as many as a hundred of each week's show that survived but think about it. A hundred for some 200 million Americans and millions of overseas collectors who look for unique presentations of their favorite artists or form of music is about as rare as rare can be. Many stations just tossed them away after airing because the storage space at most radio stations was very limited. (Believe me I know - I worked at just such a station as an on air personality for seven plus glorious years!)SO they are increasingly hard to find. They were first distributed on reel to reel tape or on lp, later on CD and even later (after 2000 for most shows) on CDR. Now they are not available at all to collectors since they are distributed by digital download much like you get your music from iTunes. The shows that you get now and hold on to will never decrease in value and only increase. I have prided myself since the start to provide the best and fairest cost with a no holds barred guarantee that you will be happy or I refund your money. I sell them for near what I bought them for. I give volume discounts and discount postage always. As the postal service increases their rates, my shipping rates over the years has decreased. And, I have one of the biggest radio show libraries in the world consisting of over fifteen thousand shows, so many that I don't even know all that I have and am sometimes amazed when I go to look for one show and find another that I did not realize I had. Finally, it is Americana at its best. Whether the show be from the 60's or 2000's, rock, countdown, oldies, country, classical, religious, jazz or big band, it is unique and home grown. And you just can't find them anywhere. Even record stores that still exist will rarely have any. Radio shows are wonderful representations of the real golden age of radio at least music wise. And every one you buy is an original, not a copy, not a remake - all are limited editions in the hundreds at most and most much less. Once you get hooked, like me, it is a love affair for life! Welcome to the Club! Remember, when you buy this show, not only will you own the tunes but also interspersed between songs is fascinating commentary on the artists and songs. Also, keep in mind that this and all shows are not just about the music - the music can be found anywhere. It is the mixture of great music and great announcing that makes it so entertaining. As well, it is a piece of radio history. IT IS AMERICANA! MOST PEOPLE DON'T EVEN KNOW THESE SHOWS EXIST AND SO DON'T KNOW WHAT TREASURES THEY ARE. You just aren't going to find these shows anymore. Think of what they will be worth in a few years! (IF you wanted to sell.) I am selling to share with other music lovers what I was able to get at a reasonable price Good Luck and God Bless You.
