Yvonne Daniels is a pioneer for black women in radio, having come into her own on FM Jazz station WSDM 97.9. This :43 minute CD features mostly scoped airchecks, starting with Yvonne on WSDM on May 23, 1973. This long-time stint led to her being hired away by WLS when the station was hiring top FM personalities to come to their AM top 40 giant. Daniels was the first full-time female DJ brought in, even if was for the overnight shift. Going to WLS was an ironic coming full circle for Yvonne. She was well-known for co-hosting "Sid & Yvonne" on WCFL in the early 60s, when their jazz oriented show was sent packing in 1965 as WCFL turned to Top 40 to compete with WLS.
