Description: Quilt wall hanging antique hand drawn, handsewn by an "outsider" artist. This is an original, one of a kind with 12 squares, each illustrating a familiar nursery rhyme. There is both hand and machine stitching on cotton fabric with a heavy silky backing. The provenance is unknown, likely pre-1950s. This was acquired at an antique mall in Yorkville, Illinois during the 1980s. The self-trained artist who created this delightful work has illustrated the nursery rhyme characters in fabric and thread, and hand-stitched key words of the nursery rhymes. Definitely a collectible piece I wish I could keep, but have enjoyed it for many years; time to pass it on.
