"Quartermaster" Monkey's Fist Knot ...old-school swagger

"...One quick pop on the head with this beauty, and it's lights out!"The Quartermaster begins with a traditional 5-finger Monkey's Fist knot that we form extra tightly around a hardwood ball core. Then we add an eye-spliced wrist loop, plus a handsewn leather grip... which is then whipped and finished with 2 Turk's Head knots. Length measures 19" end to end. The Monkey's Fist diameter is 3-inches. The rope is 5/16" Vintage New England 3-Strand, which is the same rope that we use on our seabag lanyards. What's it for?In the old days, the Quartermaster would have been used to maintain discipline aboard the ship, keeping unruly crewmembers in line, as well as providing concealment for small valuables buried inside the Monkey's Fist. Today it's just for fun! Display it at the home or office, or attach it to your ditty bag for a bit of extra swagger.
