Description: Made by the monks of the historic Vessra Abbey (Kloster Vessra,) of Thuringia, Germany, this Hand Painted Sugar Bowl and Creamer Set is ringed with ethereal Pink Tulips. Each open blossom is painted in shades ranging from pale pink to a deep rose and waving on a narrow stalk of green. Yellow stamens peek out from among the petals. The Vessra Abbey was founded in the 1130s and had a rich history through the centuries. The Creamer and Sugar Bowl is marked in orange with the image of the Monastery in a circle with the initials P.V. followed by "Germany HandPainted." This mark was used during the time that porcelain was produced at the Abbey between 1892 and 1921.There is wear consistent with age. This is mainly along the gold on the outside edge. There is also a very small chip on the rim of the sugar bowl, which is marked in the photo. Approximate measurements:The Creamer measures 4.5 inches across the top and is 3 inches deep.The Sugar Bowl measures 5 inches across the handles and 3.5 inches from the base to the top of the lid.
