You’ll start off working on your own, but as you grow your business, upgrading or acquiring new premises so that you can house more lawn mowing machines, you can take on more staff. And more staff means more contracts can be completed at once, boosting your reputation and income even further. Well, as long they don’t mess up. When it comes to the actual act of mowing lawns, it’s fairly involved. It’s recommended you check the lawn for any objects that might get in the way first. Then, when that’s done, it’s up to you to devise your own lawn mowing strategy. With strimmers now added into the mix, I generally begin with one of those first, cutting the grass around flower beds and other edges. Then I go back and get my sit-on mower, starting up the engine before setting the required cut height and then mowing the rest of the grass.It all sounds rather easy, but when making a tight circle can damage the lawn, landing you with a penalty, those who strive for perfection will find themselves challenged. You also need to be careful that you don’t overwork your sit-on mower, or it might not function correctly, and keep its grass cutting function in mind. Some dump the grass out at one side when cut, for example, and you don’t want that dumped grass going on a flower bed or paved area. Others collect cut grass in a container, so you may need to empty it regularly, while others mulch it up and spit it back out. Career mode is also accompanied by a challenge mode, where you’ll be tasked with achieving objectives in a wide range of scenarios. I’d say it makes for a nice break, but instead it puts you to work under some pretty strenuous conditions. Master these challenges and you’re assuredly a lawn mowing master. Multiple pieces of DLC are also available, though seemingly not on PlayStation yet, that add more locations to the game. If you’ve ever dreamed of cutting the grass in a dinosaur theme park, for example, your dreams can now come true.It’s just a shame that this new PS5 version of Lawn Mowing Simulator doesn’t make any real use of DualSense functions. Like on Xbox Series X last year, it’s also a mixed bag in terms of visuals. Character models aren’t very good and there’s a noticeable amount of pop-in, but the locations you find yourself in are wonderfully scenic. Still, thanks to the addition of strimmers and multiple tweaks and improvements since the game’s original launch, Lawn Mowing Simulator has never been better. If you’re looking for a game that’s challenging yet relaxing, Lawn Mowing Simulator fits the bill. Starting up your own business, you need to choose your contracts carefully and mow lawns with care. And while it really does feel like work at times, there’s something seriously enjoyable about going back and forth in serene British parks and gardens, making them look prim and proper. Ultimately, Lawn Mowing Simulator is more addictive than it has any right to be.
