Description: Superbly crafted, 4 lb., black marble metate. Pecked, ground, and super smoothed, this is simply an amazing prehistoric Paleo-American, stone rock art hand tool! There are various concave indentations placed around the entire sculpture for comfort, and added grip strength. This implement has a hammer, pecking, grinding/smoothing applicability based on its structure and hand position and wear/stress areas. There are severaldistinctly conspicuous images also. The 1 lb mano is made of matching black marble, and is exceptionally sculpted also. Both mano and metate are exceptional examples of ancient craftsmanshiptruly, the collector's artifact(s)!
