Description: This handsome ancient coil pot from Ecuador is one of two I have for sale. The Mante~na culture flourished between 500-1500 AD, Their pottery is known for its stunning grey color, fineness and the burnished sheen on the outer layer. This pot is 3" tall and 6.25" in diameter (the opening). For a coil pot the work is absolutely outstanding for its thin sides and perfect roundness! It has been glued together but it doesn't detract from its appearance. It could be painted in the cracks and then it would look perfect. Has a few dings and is chipped on the lip. Color is rich and original with two prominent fire clouds. There some dust from storage. Rare item and a beautiful treasure. It is one of two I have for sale. The second one can be seen in the second to last photo. It is a separate listing. From an old US collection. Free shipping in continental US. Priced very low to help finance my retirement.
