poster folded ROBOCOP 2 1990 ORIGINAL USA 1sht ADVANCE DS

Description: Original Folded Theater one sheet (27 x 41 inches) Double Sided USA ADVANCE poster sent to film cinemas, in 1990, in envelopes for marketing purposes, weeks, sometimes months AHEAD of general release. Condition is VERY GOOD+. An unrestored poster that displays signs of use with good color and and overall, a very presentable appearance. It displays well and its "look" is age appropriate and vintage. There is very minor edge wear, very slight surface blemishes, minor rolled corners. Otherwise the poster is in very nice condition and after simple linen backing would look great! Very gorgeous, sci-fi & robotic tech horror imagery. FAST & SAFE DELIVERY. 1990. Directed by IRVIN KERSHNER, co-scripted by FRANK MILLER. TAGLINES : "He's back to protect the innocent" "Even in the future of law enforcement there is room for improvement" - Final film directed by Irvin Kershner. - RoboCop returns to protect the citizens of old Detroit but faces a deadly challenge when a rogue OCP member secretly creates a new, evil RoboCop 2. After a successful deployment of the Robocop Law Enforcement unit, OCP sees its goal of urban pacification come closer and closer, but as this develops, a new narcotic known as "Nuke" invades the streets led by God-delirious leader Cane. As this menace grows, it may prove to be too much for Murphy to handle. OCP tries to replicate the success of the first unit, but ends up with failed prototypes with suicidal issues... until Dr. Faxx, a scientist straying away from OCP's path, uses Cane as the new subject for the Robocop 2 project, a living God. BEHIND THE SCENES TRIVIA : Although the producers loved Frank Miller's original version of the script, they quickly realized it was unfilmable as written. The final screen version was heavily rewritten and bears only a superficial resemblance to Miller's story. In 2003, Miller's screenplay was adapted into a comic book series titled, appropriately, "Frank Miller's RoboCop". After the success of RoboCop (1987), director Paul Verhoeven and the original screenwriters Edward Neumeier and Michael Miner were immediately approached by the studio for a possible sequel. According to Verhoeven, he didn't want to make the kind of sequel that the studio had in mind. He felt that going forward so quickly with their ideas would make it feel like he was attempting to cash in on the first film, and he only wanted to do a follow-up if it was original and innovative. Neumeier and Miner had already presented a very rough outline called "RoboCop: Corporate Wars". In this draft, RoboCop was to be shot and pulverized to metallic dust by a cannon in the very beginning. He would be resurrected 25 years later in an even more dystopian future, where he becomes a pawn in the struggle between an all-powerful corporation, the government and an impoverished population. At one point RoboCop would have a love interest in the form of a Neurobrain to humanize him even more. The studio liked this idea, but gave the writers a hard deadline to come up with a full screenplay, which they felt unable to meet. Verhoeven also moved on to shoot Total Recall (1990), but ultimately felt that the studio should have been patient and that Neumeier and Miner's idea for the sequel was far superior to the finished film. A new script was written by Frank Miller and Walon Green, but the plot also has lines from the original script and early drafts for the first movie that were never filmed. In 2019, it was announced that Neumeier and Miner's rough draft would be the basis for RoboCop Returns, an alternative sequel to RoboCop (1987) that ignores RoboCop 2 and RoboCop 3 (1993).
