Description: Portrait of Oliver Cromwell. Born 25 April 1599 in Huntingdon, Huntingdonshire, England. Died 3 September 1658 in London, England. Copper engraving by Frederik Bouttats (1590-1661), c. 1660. Reasonable condition. Margins trimmed to the border. Portrait cut-out and placed in a seperately printed decorative border. Both the portrait and the border in a nice contemporary colouring. Paper slightly browned and slightly soiled with some minor faint staining. Some loss of image in the upper left corner and a small tear is present in the lower right margin. Mounted on verso: a contemporary coloured portrait of an unknown lady in a richely decorated border. Some damage and traces of former mounting to the left. Dimensions: 159 x 114 mm. Oliver Cromwell was Politician, Statesman, General, Member of Parliament, Lord Protector of the Commonwealth of England Scotland and Ireland, Member of Parliament for Cambridge, and Member of Parliament for Huntingdon.
