Description: C.M. Coolidge (1844-1934) was an American artist best known for his series of paintings featuring dogs playing poker, which have become iconic images in popular culture. Born in upstate New York, Coolidge began his career as a druggist before turning to art in his late thirties. Although Coolidge's dog paintings were initially intended as advertising illustrations for cigar boxes, they quickly gained popularity as standalone works of art.
