Description: Transparency Enamel Plique-a-jour Cloisonné bowl. 2.5” Diameter. Plique-a-jour (French for "letting in daylight") is a vitreous enameling technique where the enamel is applied in cells, similar to cloisonne, but with no backing in the final product, so the light can shine through the transparent or translucent enamel. It is, in effect, a miniature stained- glass and is considered very challenging technically: high time consumption (up to four months per item), with a high failure rate. The technique is similar to cloisonne, but using a temporary backing, that after firing, is dissolved by acid or rubbed away. This multi-colored floral translucent bowl is a show-stopper. The beautiful and bright colors shine through, making it a display piece in any room. I have a total of three pieces. I have this plate and two bowls. Since they are different items, I cannot add volume pricing to this listing. However, I will come by shipping and issue a refund equaling a 15% discount to any buyer who purchases all three pieces.
