I recently bought a CT-W404r cassette deck at a yard sale and it had issues with one side- if you pushed play on the left hand deck it would play for a couple seconds, then auto-reverse and play the other side, then do the same thing again and again every couple seconds. With some tapes if you pressed play it would just click and not play at all. Fast forward would usually work but rewind would not. Sometimes the right hand reel would spin in a jerky motion. If these are the issues your deck is having simply by replacing this one small belt there is a very good chance you will bring your deck back to 100% working condition. It did for my deck. I picked up some extra belts when I repaired my deck and am offering them here for people in the same position. The best thing about this fix is that the repair on this model is incredibly easy. It's the first cassette deck I replaced a belt on and was concerned about having to take apart complicated mechanisms but with this one there is no disassembly at all. You simply remove three screws from the back, take the cover off, slide a flat belt to one side, pull out the old worn belt, put the new belt on, and then put the flat belt back in place. That's it. No motor to remove, no other screws to take out. Each cassette assembly uses two belts and this listing is only for the smaller square belt. On my deck neither flat belt needed replacing and it's been working for about 6 months trouble free. From what I can tell replacing the flat belt would require taking the front off and then the motor off, doesn't look super difficult but something I'd rather avoid if it's not required.
