Description: This 10 by 8 black and white photo shows the interior of a store with a sign announcing a Philco Appliance Demonstration Sale for refrigerators, freezers and electric ranges. There are some televisions in wood cabinets, some with metal legs, and Philco also made tv's. To the left of the photo is furniture and carpet samples. Only partly readable on the back is a stamp for the photographer J. Harold Smith Studio at 1736 Battleground Avenue. This studio was in Greensboro, North Carolina. It opened in 1949 and operated as a studio until 1979, when it switched to prints and art. From the style of the appliances, televisions and furniture, I think that the photo dates from the mid 50's to the mid 60's. By 1966, Philco appliances were sold under the name Philco-Ford. The photo has some some small creases and a small tear at the top. There's some traces of glue and paper on the back.
