Description: Product Description: You will be buying a Photograph produced using professional photographic lab equipment and printed on high quality photographic paper. Please note that sometimes a small amount of image cropping is neccessary to produce your photograph. Some photographs may have areas of white space along the edges / border. Produced on a Print & Supply basis from an image previously made available in the public domain / internet by the Copyright holder Condition: New Size: 6" x 4" - 150mm x 100mm Copyright: © Copyright Stephen McKay and licensed for reuse under creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/2.0 details available here: https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/2.0/Photograph Notes: This exuberant art-deco building, designed by George Coles, first opened its doors as the Carlton Cinema in 1930, later becoming an ABC. In common with many cinema buildings at that time it was converted to a bingo hall in 1972. Mecca Bingo closed it down in March 2007 allegedly because of fears that the smoking ban would damage business. It has lain empty ever since and its condition is deteriorating, to the extent that English Heritage has placed the grade 2* listed building on its at-risk register. It has been purchased by a church, Resurrection Manifestations, who have promised to use it for community activities as well as worship, but they are blaming planning difficulties for the lack of any progress.
