There are 4 different radio bands: long wave LW (150-260 kHz), middle wave AM (517-1622 kHz) and short wave SW (5.9-18.2 MHz), and also FM (87.5-100.6 MHz). These are selected with the white push buttons. In the 1950s, Philips introduced the Bi-Ampli system. The system assumes two separate amplifiers. In one amplifier the high tones are filtered out; in the other the low tones. As a result, better sound quality was obtained, because the high and low frequencies thus give less chance of interference, and the output power is (in theory) twice as large. More versions of the Bi-Ampli system followed; this is one of the last. In 1965, the Bi-Ampli logo disappears entirely. This receiver can reproduce a stereo signal from an external source (therefore, the radio has two identical amplifiers and speakers); To help with tuning a brand new EM80 magic eye is installed to give you a visible indication of the tuning.
