Please excuse any glare in the photos. This oil on masonite board painting depicts a Western landscape with a Native American on horseback, pulling a travois. The setting includes a lake and trees, with snowy mountains in the distance. The sight area is approximately 8 1/2 inches by 13 1/2 inches. The painting is framed in a gold-finished frame with a linen liner. The exterior frame dimensions are about 17 5/16 inches by 22 3/8 inches. Unpacked, this piece weighs 4 pounds 7.2 ounces. It would be a great addition to a collection of vintage art. Identification This vintage painting is by Phil Arcuri. It is dated "89" for 1989. The painting is titled verso, "Heading Home" and there is an inventory number, also. Arcuri formerly lived in Sonora, California and also in nearby Moccasin, California before moving to Phoenix, Arizona. Biographical information about this artist is difficult to locate, but he was/is obviously talented. The influence of the well-known, listed Sonora, California artist Heinie Hartwig is apparent when looking at this work, so Arcuri may have been his student while he was living in the area. Condition This piece looks great overall. The painting is clean and without damage. The frame has light wear. The linen liner has a few tiny, rusty stains.
