Description: Petty: A Portfolio from Esquire by George Petty Signed first edition of a pin-up collection by the popular American artist New York: Esquire, 1936. First edition. Signed by George Petty on the title leaf, inscribed "to 'MITCH' HEINEMANN from a guy who is flattered to think he is interested [/] With every good wish [signed] George PETTY." 10 1/4" x 14". Bound in publisher's slick black boards with gilt lettering, plastic comb binding along top edge, a novelty at the time attributed to the Plastic Binding Corp. of Chicago on the final leaf. Very Good+ with wear along edges, chip to left edge of comb. A collection of color pin-ups with humorous captions from the popular men's mag Esquire. The "Petty girls" often have that femme fatale agency that is so prevalent in hard-boiled fiction and noir films of the time and are the picture of elegance, all legs, whereas the men are often cartoonish, round blobs. Rare signed by the artist.
