Description: Pele gets a kick out of 50 ……… MILAN, Italy -- Brazilian soccer king Pele was honored on his 50th birthday Wednesday night with a soccer game featuring some of the world's best players. Pele played the first 43 minutes of the game between a squad of Brazilians and an All-Star international lineup. Pele left the field to a great ovation from a crowd of some 50,000 at San Siro Stadium. The World All-Stars, behind goals from Michel of Spain and Gheorghe Hagi of Romania, won 2-1. Neto scored for Brazil. Although there were some impressive displays of skill from the assembled stars, the game was little more than a casual affair in the second half, as the World All-Stars made eight substitutions. Argentina's Diego Maradona, the finest player of the last decade, did not attend, and Dutch star Marco Van Basten played only 18 minutes before being substituted. Michel opened the scoring in the 35th minute and Hagi followed in the 51st minute. Neto scored for Brazil in the 60th minute. Pele, who led Brazil to three World Cup titles, clambered on top of a huge four-tiered birthday cake during a half hour ceremony before the game.
