Description: This is an original Book Club edition (1st edition) of "Pavilion of Women" by Pearl S. Buck, from 1946. It was published by the John Day Company, of New York. The dust jacket is present, but has damage and wrinkling and discoloration along gutters, though spine is good. This is a nice reading copy, and is priced low because it is not a rare title. Pearl S. Buck, of course, is a Nobel Prize winning author. This novel focuses on a 40-year-old Chinese woman (Madame Wu) who decides to leave her marriage. She chooses a concubine for her husband, and begins a new life of freedom. She becomes the chief manager for the House of Wu. This would make a great pick for a book club, or would make a fine addition to your vintage book collection.
