Description: For your consideration is a lidded pot made by Paul Volckening. This is a stunning example of this important potter's work - and his works are very hard to find. It measures 5"h x 7.5"w. Paul studied under Tony Prieto at Mills in the 1950's and then was a resident at Archie Bray. He spent some time teaching in the Oakland / Berkeley area prior to focusing on his studio work. One thing to note is that this has some firing cracks on the bottom that occured during production and not after. They do not impact the intregrity of the piece nor are they visible given their location underneath. They do not appear on the inside. He still chose to sign this after which is an indication that he felt it was a finished work and worth of selling. I am including several pics for you to see. I am a pottery collector with a particular focus on California and mid-century. All of my pieces are in unblemished condition (no chips, cracks or repairs) and all of it comes from reputable and documented sources. I am selling a small part of my collection - but if you're looking for something in particular, please let me know since I might have it. Thanks for looking and please let me know if you have any questions.
