Description: Paul Beauvoir PanelThis artwork was painted by the Haitian artist Paul Beauvoir (1932-1972). The panel is acrylic on masonite board, and depict rural villages and people. Both sides of the panel are signed P. Beauvoir.This piece is a double sided panel, one panel that was part of an 3 piece room divider. The painted panel (excluding frame) measures about 71 x 16 inches. In the frame, the piece measures about 80 x 21 inches.One side has three women, the other side depicts a man carrying a sack. Condition Issues The panels were poorly handled at some point. The divider was probably used as décor or a divider in an outdoor or exposed environment. The panel was part of a larger room divider joined with hinges. The piece was separated but the sides of the frame will show evidence of the old hinges.The masonite board has a smooth side and a textured side. The painting of the women is on the smooth side of the board. There are several places where the acrylic paint has flaked off of the smooth side. This side of the panel also has remnants of bird droppings and dirt on them. The painting of the man on the textures side is cleaner and the paint has adhered to the board better.
