Description: This Palau Storyboard is a truly unique and beautiful piece, expertly handcrafted by skilled artisans. The craftsmanship of this wood carving is exceptional, and it's clear that every detail has been carefully considered. The artwork depicts an ancient Palauan Legend: Meduu Era Ngibtal (The Magic Breadfruit Tree) The Palauan legend of the breadfruit tree, also known as Ngibtal, tells the story of a magic tree that belonged to Milad, a demigoddess who taught the Palauans how to grow taro. The tree was large and strange, with a hollow trunk that reached into the lagoon. When people cut off a branch, live fish would come out, which they could catch in baskets. One day, someone suggested cutting down the tree so they could have all the fish they wanted. When they did so, the ocean flooded in through the trunk, causing a huge flood that sank the entire island of Ngibtal beneath the waves. The flooding of Ngibtal Island in the aftermath of chopping down the tree is depicted in this carving. In addition to its aesthetic appeal, this storyboard also holds cultural significance. Originating from the Pacific Islands, it's a testament to the rich cultural heritage of the region. Whether you're a collector of Pacific Islands art or simply appreciate the beauty of this piece, it's sure to make a wonderful addition to any home or collection.
