Subject dual portraits of a man and wife in front facing profile she is an elegant beautiful young lady with rosy cheeks and blue eyes, curly short strawberry blonde hair wearing a smart mustard and black formal dress, with a brooch onby her neck. He has brown eyes, short receding darker blonde hair and is wearing a black suite and white shirt, he has rosy cheeks has a moustache, masculine jaw line and nose to match. The posthumous portrait was adopted from European traditions of portraying the dead as alive. These posthumous portraits became a genre all their own by transforming the dead back into life through this medium. Signed by the British artist Edmund Dyer.
