Oscar Feliu a Chile native, came to the USA in 1969 and soon after became a fly fisher and fly tyer in America. As an entomology student he conducted aquatic studies in several Michigan rivers, his home of twenty years. His innovative fly patterns became well known throughout the Great Lakes region and were the subject of several newspaper and magazine articles. Oscar subscribes to the "True to Life" style of fly tying. He's been a member of Trout Unlimited and The Federation of Fly Fishers for over three decades and has presented workshops for FFF International Conclave, demonstrations and classes in Canada, Italy, and throughout United States for the past 30 years. Oscar currently lives in Central Florida and continues to produce new fly patterns for trout, bass and salt water. Oscar's Hex (Nymph), Oscar's Hex (Dun), Oscar's Hex (Spinner), Caddis Larva, Emerging Pupa, Skittering Caddis ( Adult). Traditional Catskill Dry Flies with Dave Brandt This collection of traditional Catskill dry flies is representative of the old classics, using a good mix of materials and techniques, yet continues to fish well on freestone trout rivers everywhere. Also included here is a pattern for the big burrowing Mayflies of the far North Country lakes, one that will entice the largest Brook Trout swimming today, when cast to the right spot at the right time! This fly once caught a trout so big that two cameras were required to get a photo of it! Dave Brandt (pen name, Brooks Gordon) is the founding member of the Catskill Fly Tyers Guild and has been involved with Trout Unlimited, The Federation of Fly Fishers, United Fly Tyers, The Catskill Fly Fishing Center and Museum and several Fly Fishing Shows. He has tied flies commercially for years, finally moving toward more custom tying and teaching as an instructor with the Wulff Fishing School for the last 20 years. All this and more have led Dave to appreciate that fly fishing is not simply a hobby, but rather a way of life.
