Description: These coasters commemorate the christening of Princess Beatrix of the Netherlands in the year 1938. They was based on an original design by J.C. Wienecke and manufactured by Gerritsen and V. Kempen. Wienecke's name can be seen on the front of each coaster, and Gerritsen & V. Kempen's can be seen on the hanger on the back. Here's a good description of what's being depicted in the coasters, from the original birth medal made by J.C. Wienecke: "The Princess Beatrix birth medal was presented to the guests at the christening ceremony in 1938. The medal shows how the little Princess Beatrix is held by the Dutch virgin. The portraits of all Orange princes are also depicted. Starting at the top, clockwise, these are: Prince William of Orange, Prince Frederik Hendrik, Prince Willem III, Prince Willem V, King Willem II, Queen Emma, Prince Hendrik, Prince Bernhard, Preses Juliana, Queen Wilhelmina, King Willem III, King Willem I, Prince Willem IV, Prince Willem II and Prince Maurits. The coats of arms of the Netherlands, East and West Indies complete the picture." The coasters in the photos are the actual one for sale from this listing.
