Description: Our client's pair of antique French oval shaped occasional tables, circa 1900s, are exceedingly rare and the only pair of this model that we have seen come to market in our 23 years in business. Each 25 by 32 by 15 inches, Each finely crafted from onyx stone with bronze mounts with champleve enameled inlay of flowers, foliage, rosettes and Moorish cartouches, with four tapered legs interspersed with bead mounted collars, joined with a rising stretcher with urn shaped finial at center, and each leg raised on toupie shaped feet. Frame beneath top marked in red paint Made in France, dating the pair to as early as 1892. Onyx tops not affixed to the frame. Each top in good condition with expected degree of scratches and scuffs, and only two small chip losses from the edge of one. On one table, 3 of 4 flower shaped metal mount at the edges of the four champleve panels decorating the frieze are missing. Cracks and losses to the onyx top frame upon which each top sits. Oxidation to each bronze mount and surface dirt to the enamel, but a gentle cleaning will certainly restore the luster. Some table legs not straight, possibly due to prior disassembly and reassembly.
