Description: Our Soils And Their Management 1955 - First Edition Agriculture Textbook. From the editor’s forward - “Dr. Donahue has written a book for the Nation on soils and their management. It is probably that no one has a better background for doing this. He has lived and worked in Michigan, Illinois, New York, New Hampshire, Mississippi, Kansas, and Texas. He is a forester, as well as an agronomist. He sees the soil situation in the nation broadly, but he also sees its details. he is concerned with the practice of soil management, as well as soil science. He knows the implications of soil management for plants and livestock and people…. This may be the book on soils teachers of vocational agriculture have been wanting.” This is a dense book that includes tables, diagrams, and black-and-white photographic illustrations about how to judge land, how to manage water, how to use lime and fertilizers, and how to manage soils in pastures, forests, gardens, and many more specialized conditions. See pictures for full table of contents. This book is in acceptable condition. This is a previous library copy, so there are markings stamped into the inside cover and a library card included in the back. There are some scribble/water marks, but these are left to the margins and the pages are mostly in beautiful condition. The spine, though, is becoming detached, and I can’t guarantee that it will stay on during shipping. The rest of the cover looks fine, if not a little scuffed at the bottom. See pictures for details. Due to how few first edition copies are online, this book was hard to price. I have marked it down from the value I was eventually able to find online. I have also added a buy-it-now option. Take this opportunity to buy this first-edition book at a great price!
