Description: Our Darlings. An old First World War children's book, published by John F Shaw. Undated, but there is an inscription in the front dated 1916. Thick hardback children's annual with stories, pictures and activities. 288 pages approx.Weight 900g. Condition This is an old children's book, nearly a century old, which has clearly been read (and coloured in!) by several children over the years, but still basically in readable condition. The pages are generally readable, but a little fragile - some are creased, with pen marks, or torn at the edges, and the two last pages have had a large part of the page torn off (and missing). The endpapers are also missing, and several of the little pictures that head the "chapters" of the stories, have been neatly coloured in. The covers are damaged, as you can see, and really need to be repaired. The cover of the spine is detached from the book, and the front cover is just handing on by a few threads. Inscriptions to previous owners at the front - the first one is dated 1916. Overall, a nice nostalgic read, but definitely NOT a smart book any more!
